Frequently Asked Question

What is Lean Six Sigma, and how does it benefit my organisation?
  • Lean is process improvement philosophy that is based on identifying “value” as defined by customer and ensuring that all our actions are based on maximizing this value for our clients. In other words, minimizing or eliminating all non-value-added activities. There are 8 wastes as defined by Lean concepts. If you can minimize these 8 wastes, you will add more value for your clients.
  •  Six Sigma is a methodology that improves consistency of product or service. Definition of 6s is 3.4 defects in every 1 million or 10 lakh opportunities. And yes, this is possible!

  2. We have seen clients with sincere focus able to minimize 8 lean wastes and improve consistency of their service or product in about 6-9 months. Once they achieve sustainable results, they tend to then aspire for more and start building stretch targets, thereby enhancing the Lean Six Sigma journey to its fullest potential.

a. There are 3 main ways to measure this.

Financial

  1. LSS projects must have traceability to your P&L in terms of cost reductions, margin improvement, productivity improvement, decrease in cost of RM or rework or scrap or waste material, improvement in ontime delivery metrics, reduction in inventory levels of RM, WIP, FG, space consolidation and so on.
  2. Ultimately you should see impact on top line and/or bottom-line or both with each project.

Visual

  1. Your entire workplace should have 5S implemented and thereby look neat, presentable and vibrant to work within.
  2. Everything should be in its place and there should be a place for everything. A workplace that is not 5S will continue having 8 lean wastes.
